Explaining Sinusitis of the Ethmoidal Sinuses

Sinusitis is described as the swelling or inflammation of the sinuses. There are different sinuses that can be afflicted with this swelling. The ethmoid sinuses are some of these, and the inflammation of these sinuses may be called ethmoid sinusitis. These sinuses are found at the back of the bridge of the nose between the eyes.

Ethmoid sinusitis is not very different from any type of sinusitis. It is still the swelling of the sinuses that causes the blockage of the mucus to be drained in the nose. This blocking then causes the pain that can be experienced in the area of the sinusitis that can radiate to the face, nose and eyes. Aside from pain, ethmoid sinusitis can let you experience severe headache and dizziness, runny nose, itching of the eyes and nose, and the discharge of a thin and clear fluid from the nose.

There are so many causes of ethmoid sinusitis and it is just the same with the causes of any case of sinusitis. The bacteria and particles from the mucus that is trapped in the ethmoid sinuses, allergies or fungal infection can cause sinusitis. Anything that can make the sinuses swollen is a cause of sinusitis.

The treatment of ethmoid sinusitis is also not different from treating acute sinusitis. Home remedies can treat and give relief to the condition. Home-made saline solution is one. Eating foods rich in vitamins and minerals boost the immune system thus killing the bacteria that can cause sinusitis. Drinking a lot of fluid also is one effective home remey. Aside from home remedies, physicians can suggest a lot of decongestants, inhalers, sprays and other drugs that can cure sinusitis.
